Du/dt-limiting reactors

Function
ED3dU limiting reactors play a key role in protecting the insulation of motors supplied from PWM inverters. Their purpose is to limit the voltage rise rate (du/dt) generated by the converter output pulses, preventing winding damage and undesirable electrical overloads.
These reactors are particularly effective in systems where:
  • the length of motor supply cables is short,
  • the switching frequencies of the inverter are relatively low,
  • minimal yet necessary motor protection against the effects of converter pulse operation is required.
