MV damping reactors
Function
Single-phase air-core EDD reactors are designed to limit inrush current during the switching of medium-voltage capacitor banks. As a result, they effectively protect capacitor banks against overloads and damage. In the case of three-phase capacitor banks, one reactor is required for each phase.

The design of EDD reactors is based on high-quality insulation materials, while the applied VPI impregnation ensures high resistance to environmental conditions and long-term, stable operation of the device.
The reactors have been designed to provide adequate short-circuit strength and long service life. All EDD reactor types have successfully passed type tests, including a 175 kV lightning impulse test for a rated voltage of 36 kV.
Benefits
- Effective limitation of capacitor bank inrush currents
- High resistance to environmental conditions thanks to VPI impregnation
