Vacuum-Pressure Impregnation (VPI)

Did you know that... devices manufactured by ELHAND are vacuum impregnated? 
Using vacuum-pressure impregnation (VPI) technology, coils, entire transformers and chokes are placed in a vacuum chamber fulfilled with resin which afterwards is pressurized to several bars after the whole air has been pumped out. This causes the resin to be "pressed" into all the winding gaps, eliminating air bubbles which are the source of possible partial discharges.

Additionally, the vacuum-pressure impregnation technology:

  • strengthens the windings by eliminating vibrations of individual coil windings caused by changing magnetic fields (increased lifespan, silencing),
  • improves resistance to environmental conditions (such as increased humidity, pollution),
  • improves heat dissipation from inside the coils resulting in an increase of life span of the insulation.
